Becoming a Confident Homeschooler With GoodSchooling

Edit Promo Post The Homeschool Quest

A Guest Post by Alison Morrow

Diving into homeschooling can be a bit like moving to a new country: you don’t always understand the language, the culture, or the laws – and the confusion can be enough to make you want to turn around and go back to what you’re most familiar with!

Until now, new homeschooling parents have had to launch their homeschool adventure based on trial and error, which doesn’t usually pave the way for long-term success. They make their curriculum and schedule selections based on the opinions of the homeschoolers around them because they don’t know how else to make their choices. But just because your neighbor, your pastor’s wife, or your “friend of a friend” uses a particular curriculum or follows a certain methodology doesn’t mean it’s going to work for you. And so parents will stumble through their first year, often purchasing even more curriculum and overhauling things every other month in an attempt to find something that works better – and more often than not they come to the erroneous conclusion that they’re “just not cut out for homeschooling.”

My husband and I followed this same path. After two years of frustration we finally figured out something that worked for us, and when we looked back over our experience we thought, “There’s got to be an easier way!” So we analyzed our journey, the obstacles we’d faced, and the knowledge we’d gathered that eventually led us to make better choices for our homeschool adventure. We then turned that information into an online course that would save parents from the same frustration, wasted time and money, and unnecessary agony that we and so many others had experienced. Then we added personalized coaching and an ever-growing resource library and created The Confident Homeschooler Membership Community. This membership helps you lay a solid foundation for your launch and simplify your processes and routines through practical help rooted in the “less is more” philosophy, making the homeschooling journey less stressful, more fun, and truly educational!

Transforming Your Homeschool Adventure

Where are you on your homeschool adventure? Are you in “pre-launch” – still trying to figure out when and how to start or whether or not to even homeschool in the first place? Maybe you’re in the beginning stages, having launched this year or last, and still trying to figure out what you’re doing and how to make this whole thing work. Regardless of where you’d place yourself on that spectrum, two things are almost certain to be true: you’re overwhelmed by all the information out there, and you’re nervous about your ability to provide your child with the education they deserve. The Confident Homeschooler aims to transform you from overwhelmed and nervous to clear and confident. To do that, we’ve divided the homeschool adventure into five different stages and provided each one with a path to success that is tailored to the needs of parents at that stage. This ensures that you see consistent growth and transformation, which allows you to achieve your homeschool dreams regardless of where you are on the homeschool journey when you first come into our community. You aren’t just thrown into our resource library and expected to sort out what will be relevant and useful – you’re walked through a systematic process that lays out the specific steps and resources you need to “level up.”Of course, that doesn’t mean life won’t occasionally throw you some curve balls. We can prepare for a lot of possibilities, but what happens when something comes out of the blue that we didn’t expect?A Homeschool Coach in Your Back Pocket

When those curve balls come flying, you may not immediately know how to handle the impact they have on your homeschooling, but with the Confident Homeschooler, you do know how to figure it out: schedule a private coaching session!I have a unique skillset to draw from when advising homeschooling parents. My educational training as an elementary and middle school teacher has given me an understanding of curriculum and instruction. Having homeschooled for over fifteen years, I have seen and experienced for myself many of the obstacles and frustrations that my clients face. And because I love to learn and to grow as a coach, I’ve amassed a great deal of knowledge in areas like child development, how children learn, the homeschooling laws my clients have to work within, and the massive variety of resources out there at our disposal as homeschoolers.

Coaching is not an up-sell or an add-on to the Confident Homeschooler. From Day 1 in the membership you have access to one-on-one guidance through Zoom (with or without video, always your choice).

But sometimes it isn’t advice that you even need – it’s encouragement, crowdsourcing, maybe even a little commiseration! In other words, you need…The Confident Homeschool Membership CommunityHuman beings are wired for community. In the world of homeschooling, having a tribe is imperative for making it through the journey in one piece. In the membership, we facilitate this through our community forums and Zoom gatherings.

This allows you to direct your questions and requests for recommendations to parents who know what it’s like to be in your shoes. And when you want to hash out a problem face-to-face or even just shoot the breeze with others, our twice-monthly Zoom calls give you the opportunity to connect in real time with fellow Confident Homeschooler members.

You know what you want: to provide your child with a customized education that aligns with your personal values and meets their needs. But if you’re not sure how to do that, then join us in The Confident Homeschooler. You can homeschool – we can help!
